Arun Giri is the Head of Platform Engineering, Architecture & Lead Enterprise Engineer at Union Pacific Railroad. He is a transformation specialist who has built and led several high-performing Engineering and Product teams. As part of Union Pacific’s digital transformation strategy, Arun is currently leading the buildout of a Cloud Native Data Insights platform, enabling the company to rapidly deploy mission-critical predictive and prescriptive AI/ML products on a modern MLOps pipeline.

Arun has successfully led several technology paradigms shifts at Union Pacific Railroad for the past 20 years. These transformation journeys include leading the development of an industry-leading API Platform to support the company’s $300M+ effort to re-platform the transportation control system into a next-generation logistics platform. It was independently audited and was recognized as an “industry-leading implementation of Microservices architecture.”

Arun has over 30 years of Tech industry experience and vast “full stack” expertise in building large-scale distributed systems and platforms. He has extensive experience in DataGrids, Big Data solutions, messaging, and middleware. He holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science and engineering from the University of Mysore and a Masters in MIS from the University of Nebraska. He now lives in Omaha with his wife and son.
